Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation

This is where we place small clamps on the fallopian tubes as a method of contraception.
It is a Day Case operation.

• It does not alter uterine or ovarian blood flow so your periods will not change because of the procedure.
• The clips will not set off metal detectors at the airport.
• The failure rate is 1-2 per 1000
• It is permanent.
• It is not reversible............ OK, you know it can be reversed but it is a 2 hour operation through a large incision, may not work and you might just wind up with ectopic pregnancies. SO, only have your ‘tubes tied' if you never want to be pregnant to anyone ever again for any reason.

The procedure is much the same as for Diagnostic Laparoscopy.
